MEET THE TEAM

After graduating from the University of British Columbia in 1985 with a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree (Civil) specializing in structural engineering, Doug worked with Stelco Canada doing Structural Steel Design, subsequently moving onto the nuclear power industry with Stone and Webster Canada. In 1987, Doug joined Krahn Engineering to provide structural engineering services to our clients through our Vancouver office. Throughout his career, Doug has focused on institutional and specialized heavy industrial work. Doug is a Registered Professional Engineer in British Columbia, Alberta, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Ontario.

Suzanne Gratham has both a Bachelor of Applied Design in Interior Design from Kwantlen University College (honours) and a BA at UBC. She has practiced interior design for over 25 years, beginning her career with some of the leading design firms in Vancouver. Prior to joining Krahn Group in 2014 as KG Interiors, Suzanne launched and operated her own design firm for 12 years. She is a professional member of the Interior Designers of Canada and a recipient of an Award of Excellence for Retail Design. She works closely with clients, architects, and contractors to create the best designs and integrated solutions, given the tight timelines and budget constraints in today’s construction industry. Understanding the infrastructure of buildings and both their limitations and possibilities fall within Suzanne’s diverse abilities as a pragmatic and resourceful interior designer. Many of her projects have had a high level of complexity, such as designing top-secret rooms, control rooms, industrial-level shower & change room facilities, federal inspection laboratories, and executive boardrooms.

An architect with over 30 years of experience, Larry provides both the knowledge and team leadership to bring success to architectural consulting with municipal authorities, design specialists, client communications, and public agencies on a broad range of project types and sizes. His portfolio includes award-winning architecture on projects bridging the spectrum of building types with a particular emphasis on efficient, high-performance, sustainable, and cost-effective building solutions. High-rise, mid-rise, and custom residential projects are of particular interest for Larry, with an extensive focus on the design of concrete tilt-up, steel, and long-span wood frame buildings. His strong industry leadership is evident in his involvement with intern architect mentorship, serving on several architectural/urban design panels, and fulfilling an academic examiner role for the RAIC Syllabus professional program. He has delivered 3 LEED Gold and 4 LEED Silver certified projects, along with many projects that ‘shadowed’ the LEED process in order to achieve environmental accountability without the cost of the registration process. Larry is a passionate advocate for design quality on behalf of his clients and is dedicated to accountable client service.

Graduating with honours from BCIT in 1996, Chad gained experience in the consulting engineering field with a variety of corporate firms and clients. Having previous experience with project management, detailed design, pre-design site, and survey services, and construction field services, he joined the Krahn team in 2012 with a keen understanding of department coordination and strategic design. Chad’s multidisciplinary background combined with his experience in the retail, light commercial, industrial, and institutional sectors across Canada makes him a valuable client liaison and manager for KD Mechanical.

Manny Mendiola is a skilled electrical engineer with over 20 years of industry experience working with projects ranging from commercial and residential to light and medium industrial builds. He specializes in providing innovative, intuitive solutions for many applications including power distribution, security, detailed electrical and lighting design, telecommunications, and electrical budget and costing.

Jessica brings over 12 years of landscape architecture experience and is currently a Registered Landscape Architect in BC. She joined the KDP team in 2016 and has a background in parks and playground design, and landscape design for residential, commercial, industrial, cemeteries, and high rises. Her varied expertise in project management, design, production, and construction management makes her an invaluable asset within our multidisciplinary firm.
